Rate-Splitting Multiple Access for Intelligent Reflecting Surface-Aided Secure Transmission

In this letter, we study a rate-splitting multiple access (RSMA)-based intelligent reflecting surface (IRS)-aided multi-user multiple-input single-output (MISO) secure communication system with potential eavesdropper (Eve). Aiming to maximize the minimum secrecy rate (SR) among all legitimate users (LUs), design problem for jointly optimizing transmit beamforming artificial noise (AN), IRS beamforming, and common allocation is formulated. Since highly non-convex coupled optimization variables, develop computationally efficient algorithm based on alternating (AO) technique solve it suboptimally. Numerical results demonstrate that proposed can significantly improve max-min SR over benchmark schemes without or adopting other techniques. particular, employing RSMA strategy substantially reduce required numbers of elements achieving target level performance compared schemes.
